Rest for the Wicked

7/1/2009 For the record the horoscope I posted below yesterday morning rang 100% true. The day ended w/ surprise pop in from my old friend Joel who is here this week from the Sioux Rez in Rapid City, SD. - az

“If God were suddenly condemned to live the life which he has inflicted on men, he would kill himself.”

- Alexander Dumas (1802-1870)

My brother departed yesterday before noon. Leaving me exhausted. I got very little sleep over the weekend. However, I got pleanty last night, thank you Excedrin PM. Later I will fill in the details, or at least the details I can reveal from the weekend. It was funfilled, w/ good friends, good food and sharing much laughter and decadence.

It was really nice being able to create food w/ my former neighbor Jenny again. Which was how the whole thing started.

There is a lunch meeting at noon today w/ 2 former associates that may actually bring me out of this unemployment slump. Please wish me luck.

Porn on the 4th is this weekend.

update #1: Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

blueaz.jpg

My brothers flight into O’Hare got bumped, and he’s flying into Milwaukee and from there to Chicago. Better late than never. We have a full weekend planned and updates will likely be posted in photo form till later on Monday, if I can still function. I secured a bike for him so I can finaly show him my backyard (LSD and Montrose Harbor) the way I’ve wanted to for the past 4 years. So, be warned the details may be hilarious.

….. and we’re grilling late.Check out what I’m making for a late dinnerAlaskan Wild Cod marinated in Thai green curry cooked in banana leaves
Fresh Asparagus w/ homemade hollandaise sauce
Baby dutch yellow potatoes grilled w/ butter and African pepper
Tortillia chips w/ fresh guacamole and my hot cilantro salsa
For breakfast on the deck
Eggs w/ salsa and cheese
hash browns w/ jalapeno peppers amd mozzarella cheese
Salmon patties
Fresh Asparagus w/ homemade hollandaise sauce
tomorrow night Cheese tortellini w/ white clam sauce
Indian Nan bread
hot vegan sausage
I got an email from Newbomb Turk this morning citing that I haven’t reported on Michael Jacksons death. Figure it out and beside what’s the point. I also got some schlack on Facebook regarding a comment I made calling the self proclaimed “King of Pop” a Pedo. They said he was never found guilty and once settled out of court. To that I say, so was OJ till the civil trial which he was never did time for.

I think that freakshow who betrayed his own race is getting enough press without my help.

Farrah on the other hand was my first crush when I was 12 years old and used to send her letters in the mail.

Filling in the blanks

Friday evening my brother finally arrived and I met him on the corner after he got lost on the bus commute from O’Hare. We picked up a bottle of his poison at the liquor store and went over to mi casa where Jenny was sitting on the deck listening to David Allan Coe. We had some drinks and laughs and appetizers before our late but tasty dinner.

As I had mentioned, it was nice to create meal w/ Jen again. She lived a few stories under me a couple years back and we were really good friends, we cooked together a lot. And as we all sat and watched DVD’s for laughs after dinner Blue and I went out and Jen fell asleep on the sofa. It was around 1230 AM.

Our first stop was at Holiday Club for a round and then after we cabbed up to Carol’s where we only stayed for about 1 and a 1/2 hours, BACK! GET IT! And were home around 3 AM after having a conversation w/ some ladies passing us on Irving Park. We stayed up till around 430AM keeping Jen awake before we all fell asleep.

I woke up early of course and started coffee and prepping breakfast.Jenny went on her way and Blue and I ate outside beneath a beautifully perfect Saturday morning. It was going to be a great day and we prepared to go biking and to the beach. Which is exactly what we did. I had been wanting to take my brother biking along Chicago’s Lake Shore for more than a few years.

After a few hours of basking in the sun and sand we ventured back, relaxed for a few hours and later on went to the Country Bar where we watched the ass kicking house band that sports a very great guitarist.

Upon waking up the next morning before heading over to my spot for the Pride Parade, we ate breakfast at El Palmar. Excellent as always. Jenny cancelled at the last minute but Andy was still meeting us around 1145ish.

At noon the parade kicked off, we met a few very interesting people and there was one fella by the name of Darren who is an actor and played a stand in for Woody Harrelson in a few flicks, including Natural Born Killers.

Andy had a couple guys w/ him and we partied up and laughed it up for the early afternoon during the festivities. It was a riot, a lot of fun as always, and I think the best time I’ve had at the event to date.

After walking home my brother was up for another meal at El Palmar and we spent another 2 hours there and went back over to the country bar for a few beers before heading home. I was feeling exhausted and couldn’t even stay awake log enough to watch “Unforgiven” with him.

Monday morning was here, it was a nice day but left me feeling exhausted. Blue departed around 1030 and I rested and slowly cleaned up the house. I was completely wiped out. Besides I needed to be 100% as Tuesday at noon I had a meeting w/ 2 associates downtown. I was feeling hopeful.

It was all good.

note: obviously a lot of details have been omitted. there was some rabble rousing and other occurrences that I really do not feel the need to divulge. I had an incredible weekend w/ my brother and that is all that matters. I also know that I have some very good trustworthy friends. - az

The Lizard King on Love etc.

Hi Apple, I saw your post today and am flattered that you read my misadventures. I’ll get pix of you next time. Thanks for the shout out and appreciation.

130AM

meghan-mccain.jpg

Saw the fascinating Meghan McCain (www.mccainblogette.com www.dailybeast.com) on Bill Maher tonight. She really held her own and I have the feeling she’s going to have a big boost in visitors on her websites after this evening. For a conservative she’s actually very open minded. And even though I don’t agree with all of her arguments, most notably the Letterman VS Palin issue, I admire how she stood by her beliefs. I suggest all of you take a few minutes and read some of her work.

* She registered as an Independent when she was 18  and she voted for John Kerry during the 2004 presidential election.

* She agrees with her father’s positions on global warming and stem-cell research, and she now agrees with her father’s stance on the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

* She also supports gay marriage and has stated she is pro-life.

and she’s also quite easy on the eyes.

I’m in a really weird place right now, and felt like reading some Jimbo. Here is some of what I’d like to share, some of it prompted by Shy’s blog yesterday.

I got caught in the rain with no umbrella outside of Crobar tonight, but, oh yeah, after getting a lil TLC treatment, it was worth a soaking wet ride home.

I also got a strange email/friend request last night on Facebook, and being that I do not ad people I am not connected to in some way or know, I asked her (asian adult entertainer who will remain nameless) if she knew me or how I know her. It’s a bit amusing actually.

“I don’t no you but I like your website MK. I am coming to Chicago in a month. Maybe we take pictures for website? Im just starting out and I come to Chicago to host a party. I like to fuck ;) I will fuck you for pictures. I fuck you and girl too if you have one. If not I find one easily”

Thanks but no thanks.

My head is not in my skull tonight. - az

“That’s what real love amounts to- letting a person be what he really is. Most people love you for who you pretend to be. To keep their love, you keep pretending- performing. You get to love your pretence. It’s true, we’re locked in an image, an act-”

“We fear violence less than our own feelings. Personal, private, solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.”

“Love cannot save you from your own fate.”

ТЧРЭ О ИЭGДТІVЭ: Мне шесть из семи смертельных грехов. И я собираюсь развлекать все шесть из них сегодня

4th_evite.jpg

It certainly has been an interesting couple of days.

Wednesday I was due to go to Crobar at 11P to pick up the tickets and posters for Porn on the 4th, and as I showered a bit to early I found myself stir crazy at 7 so I took teh 36 to Ranalli’s where Kendra was waiting tables on the patio, so I took a seat and had a yard and hung w/ her for awhile as she was waiting on tables and wrapping up her station.

As it grew closer to 11 I promised I’d walk her home to her condo en route to Crobar then got a text that the tix were misprints and to come back the next day. So all in all I’m really glad I hung out at Ranalli’s that evening seeing a lot of old friends I hadn’t seen since I took Katrina in.

The weather looked grim Thursday morning and I got up and went to my doctors office. They told me it’d be a 2 hour wait and that I could come back later in the day. I kept busy by running errands and setting up clients for future projects. At 3 I went to the medical center and this is where it got interesting.

I’ve had Dr. Germain for the last 4 years, a man I trusted and liked. He got my blood pressure medicine correct unlike any other doctor I’d seen in years. I discovered recently that he had left and started a new practice on the south side. So I was not looking forward to establishing a new relationship. When I arrived at the office at 3PM I met my new doctor, a lady from Russia with a thick Russian accent. She seemed really nice and we went over my records. And 1/2 way through my examination she inquired about the shirt I was wearing which is a limited edition Type O Negative promo T for the CD “Dead Again” which is designed to represent their moniker in Russian complete w/ hammer and sickle. The logo wa spelled: ТЧРЭ О ИЭGДТІVЭ

The image below represents the art, but the boxed set below that includes the actual shirt only mine is in green lettering as opposed to red.The she saw my first and middle name, Nicholas Alexander and asked if I were of Russian heritage. So we had a nice conversation about travel and history. Things I have never discussed as a patient. So I like this lady.

 tonpatch.gif

tonbox.jpg

Oddly enough as though my new physician and shirt both were Russian, my headline on Facebook earlier in the day was:

Мне шесть из семи смертельных грехов. И я собираюсь развлекать все шесть из них сегодня.
You can’t make this shite up!

As I walked home I got a text from Brian C Janes (photographer and husband to burlesque super star Natasha Minsk) who was biking so I went biking and we met up at Ranalli’s patio, I had a 1/2 yard and he a picther of water and wechatted for awhile and a couple guys sitting behind him overheard our conversation and we chatted w/ them for awhile

Turns out they are traveling around the country and networking for their project: www.stubstreet.com

And out they love new Glarus beer so I gave them NG info, and they will be going there after a couple of Phish concerts at Alpine Valley this weekend.

Brian left and the 2 gents joined me for one more drink before we shook hands and they went on their way. I had every intentions on leaving when I saw a guy se up a guitar and mic and he began to perform there on the patio. Right when the singer launched into the first song my phone rang, and I couldn’t believe it, it was Morgan calling from Alaska. I certainly did not expect that. We talked a few minutes then I finished my calamari and beer and had a wonderful fast ride home on the trail. he sun was going down as I brought my bike up the stairs and I came in checked the email and began to chill out for the evening. I fell asleep in the living room while watching an Adam Sandler biography. At 232AM my phone buzzed me awake, a text from Morgan with 2 simple words, “Bubu Lubu”. That’s a hilarious message to wake up to.

Seven days and she speaks my language.

This morning the weather simply blows. It’s disgusting. At 7 AM I’m outside watering plants and by 10 the thunderstorms wreck my porch. We have storm warnings all afternoon and there have been tornados in the NW burbs.

So it’s dark, and I feel uninspired and doing research on the web to post on MK. Then IM comes up, Morgan writing from Denali. She’s been drinking and adventuring meeting people and having fun. Strange that she makes time to communicate with a guy she really only knew for a week.

She’s earned her Motorhead pass, for sure. This weekend I’ll drink some Jack as a tribute to my pretty new friend.

What the HELL is her problem???

Michelle Obama: An Angry Woman

U.S first lady Michelle Obama and France’s First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy attend a ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy at Colleville-sur-Mer cemetery, June 6, 2009.

Maybe she really doesn’t like sitting next to white people, I don’t know.

michellesasha.jpg

I’d really like to share this piece from Bill Maher which aired last Friday night. I had been thinking this for weeks. The real clincher came 2 weeks ago when NBC aired 2 - 2 hours segments on Prime Time titled, “Inside the Obama White House” which was nothing more than the networks version of MTV’s cribs. Bill Mahers words, not mine. And then after 2 nights of it, they aired it again in it’s entirety a THIRD night.

So Bill Maher, a very liberal and outspoken talent who I’ve admired for many years, and up until a few weeks ago, the Prez could do no wrong in his eyes, pulled no punches and let his opinions role out of his head.

Here it is on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWulnfog20c

an old girlfriend from high school sent me this high school senior picture of me at 17 years old

what kind of music do you think i liked?

I’m a gambler and I’m a runner but you knew that when you layed down
I’m a picture of ugly stories I’m a killer and I’m a clown
Step into the street by sundown step into your last goodbye
You’re a target just by living twenty dollars will make you die
You wear lace and I wear black leather my hands are lightning upon my gun
My shots are clean and my my shots are final my shots are deadly and when it’s done
You’re as stiff as my smoking barrel you’re as dead as a desert night
You’re a notch and I’m a legend you’re at peace and I must hide
Tell me where the hell I’m going let my bones fall in the dust
Can’t you hear that ghost that’s calling as my colt begins to rust in the dust
I’m a killer I’m a clown I’m a priest that’s gone to town

she’s gonna meet lemmy……8/30/2009

Retrospect:

There were 7 days that seemed like a month. I haven’t had a week like that in months. After our 3 days stretch Morgan began getting prepped for her trip. I went solo to Blue Bayou on Thursday, had fried pickles and a few cocktails while enjoying another fine Vaudzilla Production. There were 2 new ladies I hadn’t seen yet, Apple Venus and Maya May I. Apple Venus did a bit to Elvis Costello’s “Spooky Girlfriend” which was very cool in her black wig and gothic noir costume.

I was home by 1115 and slept fairly well. As you may have read, I watched Gran Torino 2x on Friday, once in the morning and again at night w/ Jenny who stayed over again and we went to El Palmar of course for breakfast. Later on Saturday as if reading my mind Morgan called me from a hair show which she was attending w/ some friends and we met up at Holiday Club for a couple quiet ones before getting a bottle of JD. Morgan had on a killer Motorhead t shirt, and only a certain kind of girl can pull that off. She is a certain kind of girl so, she did. The four of us sat on the porch and I played the “Hour Back” bit by Andrew Dice Clay, and Morgan was doubled over in laughter and I thought she was on the verge of peeing herself. Now she can say she gets it. We said goodbye to her friends and took a walk to the corner and back. In an hour. Get it! Then she fell down right in the middle of the intersection. The staff at Holiday Club all looked at us and I exclaimed, “what do you expect/ She’s w/ me.” And they all laughed.

As I was putting Morgan to bed, Jenny arrived and we shared a drink and Jenny also stayed the night again. Of course we all went to El Palmar for breakfast and Morgan’s friend Andres joined us. This guy was a fucking riot. We all went to Holiday Club and then to the country bar. Morgan had to fly out that afternoon on her 2 week expedition and I hung out w/ Andres the rest of the day and we went up to Andersonville for some street fest for a while. Funny thing is I have no idea how Morgan could have made her flight. Really, she hung w/ us for about as long as she possibly could. And she still needed to go home and shower. I have to take my hat off to her stamina. She’s is truly a fun lady and I met 4 of her close friends this week, had them all into my home and had a great time w/ all of them. Andres is a full blown homo and was hilarious to hang out with. I got along w/ him pretty well. He made me laugh really hard all day.

Somewhere in the morning we played the “Hour Back” thing again and I think she laughed even harder.

So it was a busy week and I have my brother coming into town in a couple weeks and then Porn on the 4th w/ Jesse Jane and Riley Steele. My friend Joel from Rapid City will be here for a while so it looks to be exciting. I’m going to hope the rain is behind us for awhile.

Gran Torino

I could not get over how great Gran Torino is. There will be more to share on this later. As for now I share the closing line.

I’d like to leave my 1972 Gran Torino to… my friend… Thao Vang Lor. On the condition that you don’t chop-top the roof like one of those beaners, don’t paint any idiotic flames on it like some white trash hillbilly, and don’t put a big, gay spoiler on the rear end like you see on all the other zipperheads’ cars. It just looks like hell. If you can refrain from doing any of that… it’s yours.

Week DAZE

Out of the darkness sometime between 4 AM and 5 AM a roar of laughter came out of the early morning hour, and said that I sounded like Clint Eastwood. I guess I’ll take it as a compliment. Guess, no I DO take it as a compliment actually.

Oh wow what a couple of intense days. I feel like it’s last Sept all over again. Maybe it has something to do with wedding receptions. Not sure but El Palmar always seems to be part of the mix  and tequila and beautiful women. And my haus getting worked over.

What the hell is going on with this horrible horrible and depressing grey rainy weather? I thought this was Chicago not Seattle.

It was definitely a full moon on Sunday. The kind of atmosphere where I do my best work.

Beautiful boozer, photographer, traveler, and late night debater. I think the celebration ended Wednesday morning as I was coming home after waking up in a strange room I had never been and a neighborhood further north than I usually venture. I recall Jack Daniels, a strange and fun filled late night cab ride, a Bubu Luba bar, and hilarious guys at a far northside liquor store. More than anything else though, I was EXHAUSTED. Completely WIPED OUT!

Rewind:

I was up till daybreak Monday morning and in a really good mood. It was sunny and humid when I rolled onto the floor about 9 AM. The events the previous night at Darkroom and David and Jeanne’s wedding reception was more fun than I had planned, and the 6-10 PM open bar may have ended but that didn’t keep the staff at the club from plowing us both with Jack Daniels. And I’m not complaining but didn’t get back to Casa Diablo till closer to 1 AM. I had some fun pix taken on my camera and there were maybe 6 pro photographers that shot me with various other industry peeps over the evening. The image I brought back which is just hilarious and may or may not sum up the last 3 days, or is that 4 would be the one where my coif is in the air and ”the raven haired lass” has a huge smile on her mug. It was that much fun.

and the beat goes on…..

A few hours later I recieved a text as I was biking around informing me that she’d be coming by around 3, and I called replied I had a bottle of Cuervo and some margarita mix. She offered to pick something up and I suggested a bottle of premixed margaritas so the concoction would be more potent. At 3 ish she was there and hungry so we went to El Palmar ordered 2 margaritas and some food and ate and laughed. Then it was part deux. We sat on the deck for a few hours knocking these Mexican libations back with ease and laughing before we ran out. No fear as her friend Matt of Iraq dropped by with ANOTHER bottle. Woo Eee. Trying to watch “Zack and Miri” proved to be impossible after 30 minutes. And someone needed to crash, and it wasn’t me. I stayed up a few more hours and retired around midnight. Next thing I knew it was Tuesday morning, and a horrible morning. This weather is just rotten. I long to bike bike bike, swim and be outside, and go sailing. I really don’t get it. It just pisses me off.

My internet had been down again and I didn’t have much motivation and I sat outside a bit, and then went to the hospital to visit my friend Matt who had an accident falling on CTA property and was at Masonic recovering from surgery he had on his leg after it was shattered in 2 places. I came home and started pruning plants and mostly sipped leftovers and took a walk over to Holiday Club later. She worked a long day and worked over her shift and dropped by to meet for a cocktail. She left her camera at my flat so it wasn’t out of the way. Well one drink lead to…. well more. And oddly this trail of events was feeling somewhat familiar to ol El Diablo.

Picked up 2 Bubu Lubu’s

Took a cab to Albany Park (laughing all the way)

Dropped into a liqour store and she got a free cap with purchase

Walked a 3 legged dog

Was in some pictures

Woke up, where am I

Walked a 3 legged dog

Took the train home

Got some much needed rest

Woke up at 130 AM and watched movie out takes till 330 AM

Woke up 630 AM, fixed my internet connection, I have 2 assignments, time to rock

Burlesque tonight is a strong possibility especially if I can get Jenny to go with and talk about the last few days. And listen to her laugh at me.
