AZ’s “DIARY OF A DAMNED MAN”

Almost ready to rock………………..

It’s no secret that there’s been very little in music that has had me excited as of late. With the exception of Type O coming through last spring, Paul Stanley last November and TKK on New Years Eve, I just haven’t seen anything that might get me to not take a road trip or vacation instead. Well with the pending autumn in a great city to enjoy the season, the musical climate is about to heat things up, at least it will in my world.

I’m what you can consider excited about seeing Cheap Trick in a few weeks, and then after the show the new releases from MINISTRY, The Cult, Kid Rock, and Prong are all rolling out in a virtual domino effect manner. Next Monday Van Halen make their big announcement. Eddies girl and publicist Janie who I’ve known for about 5 years now asked me last night if I was coming out to the press conferece. I won’t being that I am scheduled to work, but she and everyone else can bet I’ll be at as many shows as possible.

I’ve always maintained that the only reunion tour that could eclipse what KISS pulled off a decade ago, would be VH. And I firmly believe VH will do it bigger.

The fact that The Cult put on the best show I saw in 2006 is enough to work me up, but if the new record is anything like the new single that was just put up online today titled “Dirty Little Rock Star”, I think that for myself it’ll make up for their last two releases which did little for me. But the band still puts on the most rockin of shows.

Of course MINISTRY and PRONG. What else can I say. If you read this site then you know I’m all over it.

When Tommy Victor phone me a few weeks ago and asked my advice on who they could hire for PR I thought it over and in no time came up w/ Janie Liszewski who I knew was too busy w/ Eddie and the Van Halen tour and my old pal Michael Mazur a gentleman I’ve worked with since the late 80’s when I first began writing professionally. I have to admit that it feels pretty good when people trust me enough to ask for my input on such things.

And to add icing to the proverbial cake, Jared of Chemlab fame conacted me last Sunday to inform me that the band s going to play live for the first time since 1997 for a US Tour this Nov/Dec 07. I get wet just thinking about it. You may recall we ran an extensive interview w/ the man in our Jesse Jane issue 3 years ago. Last night I contacted my old pal ‘Too Dark’ Mark Williams at Presonus in Baton Rouge about getting sound for the Chemlab tour, and even suggested Prong, Ministry and yes, I will even be putting him in touch w/ someone inside teh AH camp.

Well, Chicago is keeping me busy as always. We have amazing street festivals every weekend, great beaches and parks which I’ve been taking full advantage of and I’m moving in two weeks into my dream apartment. The last 3 years have been tough for me. The last 2 I’ve spent working at my job which I celebrated 2 years a week ago. And now it’s time to cash in. And the tunes will be there for me when I’m unpacked.

Other than a camping trip next month the only other plans I’ve made that won’t e work and rock n roll oriented are a birthday weekend in New Glarus and January in New Orleans where I will eat as much as I want, shop for the things that I need and get into some long overdue voodoo culture w/ my lady.

As usual in August in the great city of Chicago it has been soupy of humidity in August. And the AC comfort of home has kept me in afterwork on Mon-Thurs. But last night I had a craving for crab legs so Shelly and I hopped on a bus and went to Cys Crab House on Ashland, and I’m only plugging this because we such an incredible experience dining there last evening. It could not have been more perfect. And after washing the CTA off my hands in the mens room as I walked to the table I noticed the date on my watch. And this night would mark the 8th month since Shelly and I met back in Decemeber at my last birthday party ever at Ranalli’s on Clark.

Life is good.

Check back daily for your doses of rock n roll medication. And yes, I will be cleaning up the damned trip diary soon. Right now I’m as usual, quite busy.

Love ya all!
